Feline Pheromones
Feline Pheromones
What's a pheromone?
It’s a chemical signal released by individuals of the same species to communicate between them. The accessory olfactory system can catch them through the vomeronasal organ, then take their message to the nervous central system, producing changes in the behavior of the one releasing or the one receiving them.
What kind of pheromones do we know in nature?
- Sexual pheromones
- Appeasing pheromones
- Territorial pheromones
Which pheromones are synthetically produced?
- Synthetic analogue of the F3 fraction of feline facial pheromone.
- Synthetic analogue of the appeasing feline pheromone.
- Synthetic analogue of the interdigital feline pheromone
Why should we use synthetic analogues of pheromones?
These are produced to help our stressed and/or anxious cats, to improve the relationship between two cats and now the new synthetic pheromone that redirects scratching to the scratching post.
What are the presentations for the synthetic pheromones?
You can find them in the form of diffuser (1), spray (2) and pippete (3).
If your cat presents one of the behavior problems mentioned before, we recommend you to see a behavior specialist in addition to using pheromones.
Would you use these pheromones?
